In 2023, the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the largest among all professional coaching bodies in the world and to which ICF Ghana is affiliated, estimated that the global revenue of coaching is $4.564 billion.
Out of this global revenue, corporate bodies are making 788% ROI through investment in Executive coaching, as reported by Matrix Global. This suggests that the 2024 revenue can hit $6 billion with all parameters being equal. How will Ghana coaches and this industry tap into this revenue share without a strategic multiple-purpose vehicle?
This is where the ICF Ghana Chapter comes into play to position Ghana on the global coaching map and rake in part of this global revenue. ICF Ghana Chapter is a catalyst for corporate bodies and the business community in Ghana as the go-to body representing the International Coaching Federation. Executive-leadership coaching, team and group coaching, building a corporate coaching culture, etc., will support growth and influence the ROI of Ghana’s business ecosystem, private and public.
According to ICF Global, coaching offers individuals and corporate bodies a potential 70% increase in individual performance with goal attainment, effective communication, and a high sense of life satisfaction and achievements.
Coaching has also contributed to a 50% increase in team performance with enhanced collaboration, performance, and better conversation. Organisations have also witnessed a 48% overall increase in organisational performance with high revenue drive, employee retention, and customer advocacy.
The ICF Ghana Chapter is positioned to adhere to, promote and advocate for the golden standards of coaching by the mother global organisation. It is to reinforce public coaching education and information to aid potential clients in recognising when to access the service of a coach and provide a network of well-known coaches in Ghana in good standing. The Chapter is committed to building a community of continuous coaching education and becoming a platform to support the credentialing drive.
Anyone wishing to branch into professional coaching through competent coaching training institutions across the globe is welcome to the Chapter. We have members from varied coaching schools of thought who can help navigate the choices of a coaching training institution that is fit for individual purpose, strength, and passion.
Coaching influences every facet of human endeavour. Ghana will benefit significantly from a chapter here on the country’s growth and development focus. The Chapter is proud to have members from neighbouring French-speaking West African Nations to ensure holistic growth and development aside from Ghana and Nigeria.
Currently, the Chapter is working on a memorandum of understanding with GIMPA University Business School to make coaching available and integral to both students and lecturers in the business school.
For more of these, the Chapter will officially launch on Friday, 17th May 2024, at 9:00 am. The venue is the Conference Hall of Ecobank Plc Head Office in Accra. The launch forms part of the activities to commemorate the 2024 International Coaching Week celebration on the theme “Innovate, Elevate, and Celebrate.”
The launch will be graced by the guest of honour, Dr Dumisani Magadlela, the ICF Global Enterprise Board Chair, and the keynote speaker, Mr Malcolm Fiellies, the Director of ICF Europe and Africa. The guest speaker is Professor Samuel Nii Odai, an accomplished water resources engineer and academician who has served in various academic bodies, water projects, research, and other capacities in Ghana, Japan, and other countries.
One significant aspect of the launch is the dialogue on the role coaching plays in an organisation to facilitate innovation, elevation and celebration. The panel members are accomplished professionals from some selected sectors of the corporate ecosystem who have witnessed and played critical roles in the evolution of a coaching culture in their respective companies.
The launch is supported by pro-coaching entities such as Nova Surgery Center, Sankofa Solutions Inc., Zoweh Global Consult, CTL Africa Leadership, P&F Coaching International, Ideal Coaching Global, Ecobank Plc and the members of ICF Ghana Chapter.
The guests will be from carefully selected sectors, including telecommunications, banking, insurance, health, diplomatic missions, oil & gas, organised labour, academia, leadership, security, clergy, hospitality, manufacturing, media, etc, of our nation. It is anticipated they will honour our invitation as coaching touches every aspect of our socio-econo-cultural existence.
